Verdun Reception

The City of Verdun, now Borough of Verdun, has a large Irish population. Members from Verdun’s Irish community have contributed to the success of Verdun and Montreal’s Irish communities and some, such as Mayor George O’Reilly and Councillor George O’Reilly jr., have been active participants in developing Verdun into the vibrant community that it is today.

The United Irish Societies of Montreal is grateful to Mayor Claude Trudel and his council for their kind invitation and the warm welcome received. On March 11, 2009 the UIS Entertainment group, the Marie Claude Rousseau School of Irish Dance, Terry Clahane, and 3 talented young singers entertained those assembled at the Borough Hall with song and dance.
