The Leprechaun Association was created by Montreal's popular artist, show producer, master of ceremonies and songwriter, Mo Chapman. Mo, a member of the United Irish Societies, was a Canadian Army Staff Artist for twenty-six years (from 1943 to 1969). On retirement he opened up Chapman Studios where his artistic posters became widely known in major Montreal events including the Annual St. Patrick's Day Parades. After thirty years of successful enterprise, in building up the business in Chapman Studios, Mo finally eased into well earned retirement. Despite the pressure of business Mo Chapman always found time to develop his Leprechaun Association. Since 1980 when he presented his first leprechaun, Mo has worked with the U.1.S. presenting a large Leprechaun caricature with an appropriately worded comment to all parade Grand Marshals, Chief Reviewing Officers and other special guests. Among the well-known people initiated into Mo's Leprechaun Association were Pierre Trudeau, Brian Mulroney, Ed Broadbent, Red Storey, Danny Gallivan and the Flying Fathers. Throughout the years numerous politicians, mayors, etc. were enrolled in the honoured ranks of the Leprechaun Association. One of Mo's Leprechaun presentations hangs in the famous Shamrock Club in West Palm Beach. Apart from his artistic activities Mo also keeps busy as Master of Ceremonies at Veterans' Hospital, Canadian Legion and Irish shows. Many people will remember Mo's rise to fame as a songwriter when his hit song "Gordie Howe" (about the popular NHL star) rose to the top of the charts for many months in Canada and the U.S. With his active and successful career it's almost certain that at the end of every rainbow you'll find one of Mo's charming Leprechauns.
