Passed away peacefully at the Louis Riel residence on December 12, 2009. Beloved wife of the late Ronald. Dearest sister of Eileen Pinchuk, the late Edith Buchanan (Jack) and the late Patricia Johnston. Daughter of the late Brendon Hurley and Bessie Hart. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Special thanks to Millie and Brian Scott. Funeral Mass in the presence of the ashes will be held at St. John Brebeuf Church on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 11 a.m. Visitation in the church at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Montreal Children's Hospital would be appreciated. | Francis J. Quinn | November 15, 2008 | Passed away peacefully at the Residence Floralies Lasalle Qc, on Saturday, November 15, at the age of seventy-nine years. Past President of The United Irish Societies of Montreal. Survived by his children Susan (Dennis Mullins), Richard (Rick) (Diane Hawthorne), Sandra (Sandy) (James McGillis), and grandchildren Kimberly, Scott, Jason, Matthew, Nicole, Emily, and Kelly. Francis is also survived by his sisters and brothers Helen, Rita, James, Vincent, and Maurice. His family will receive condolences at Feron's Funeral Complex, 1010 Shevchenko Blvd., Lasalle on Saturday November 22nd. From 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm. A liturgy will take place in the Chapel of the Funeral Complex on Saturday, November 22nd at 8:00 pm. Interment will take place at Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Quebec Cerebral Palsy Association would be appreciated. |
| Margaret Destounis | August 26, 2008 | Passed away on August 26, 2008 at the age of eighty-six years, at Ste-Anne Veterans hospital. Predeceased by her husband Steve and her son Bill, mother of Peter (Marion), Louise, Noreen (Tom), Martha (Donald) and Tina. Grandmother of Melanie, Megan, Burke (Amanda), Logan, Elizabeth (Dave), John and David, great-grandmother of Ethan, Elise and Asha. She will be fondly remembered by all her family and friends. Lifelong member of the Legion 24106 and member of the White Ensign. Visitation at the on Monday September 1 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday September 2, 2008 at 11 a.m. thence to Field of Honor cemetery. |
| Col. André DeQuoy, C.D. | July 8, 2008 | Cherished husband of Donna Allison, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, Andy passed away at the West Island Palliative Care Residence. Predeceased by his daughter Claude and his son Serge, he leaves to mourn his children, Alain (Louise), Sylvie (George), Pierrette (Yvan), also nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, as well as his sister Monique. Andy was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Past President of the 306 (Maple Leaf) Wing, Royal Canadian Air Force Association, Past Chief Reviewing Officer of the United Irish Society and Past President of the Korea War Veterans Association. He will be sadly missed by his many friends and colleagues. Visitation will be held on July 14, 2008 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Sources Blvd., D.D.O., Qc. 514-685-3344, followed by a Legion and Wing Service. Immediately following, a celebration of Andy's life will be held at 306 (Maple Leaf) Wing headquarters, Karnak Temple, 3350 Sources Blvd, D.D.O. Qc. REV. THOMAS DANIEL McENTEE, C.M., C.D., Pastor Emeritus, Catholic Diocese of Montreal, died peacefully at West Island Palliative Care Residence, Kirkland, Quebec on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at the age of eighty-four. Following his ordination in 1954, Father McEntee was assigned curate of St. Kevin's Parish and later returned as Pastor. He was also Pastor of St. Philip Neri Mission and retired as Pastor of St. Edmund of Canterbury Parish. After his retirement, he continued to serve God's people as priest and humanitarian. He was chaplain to the Legion of Mary, Knights of Columbus, Challenge, Boy Scouts of Canada, Ancient Order of Hibernians, United Irish Societies, Innisfail, Canadian Legion 24/106 and HMCS Donnacona Naval Reserve. Father McEntee was also part of the chaplain team for the Last Post Fund, the White Ensign Club and the Naval Officers Association of Canada. He was a founding member of Executives Available, and an establishing member of Big Brothers and Sisters of the West Island and a half-way house for former prison inmates. In recognition of his community involvement he was made a member of the Order of Canada in 1990. Father Tom always remained close to his Irish roots. In 2002, he was named Irishman of the Year by the Erin Sports Association and was recipient of the Simon McDonough Humanitarian Award from the United Irish Societies. He also received the St. Patrick's Society Community Service Award. |
